Beauty Blogger Feature – Sonia Styling

So last week I wasn’t feeling too well.

This happens to me once or twice a year. I get struck down with a virus where I’m couch-bound, feeling awful and needing to take a few days to recover.

I put the call out on my Facebook page and received lots of fantastic (and some out there)home remedies to help me feel better.

There were 3 in particular that made me feel happier, healthier and hotter. What? Sometimes a girl needs a little lift…!

Ask anyone that knows me well and they’ll you my eyes always give me away. This is especially true when I’m unwell. My eyes look sunken, drawn out and depleted. I was lucky enough to be sent the Lonvitalite Collagen Crystal Eye Mask and C4 Coconut Milk Hydrating + Nourishing Face Mask* which I used this past Sunday evening. The eye mask was exactly what I needed to refresh my tired and dehydrated skin. The next item on my skincare hit list is an eye cream, so this eye mask was a brilliant prelude and has me convinced about protecting the delicate skin around my eyes as I’m pushing 30. The face mask was kind of hilarious (yes there were a few Freddie Kruger jokes thrown around while we cooked dinner) but totally rejuvenating. All the hipsters may be raving about coconut water, but consider yourself one step ahead with this coconut milk face mask. Cheaper than plastic surgery and much more gentle, it’s a lovely way to give your face some much needed TLC.

Drinking plenty of water is a bit of a no brainer, but adding a few slices of fresh lemon is just what the doctor ordered. Some people may think that lemon is acidic, but actually it has an alkaline effect on the body. It is rich in Vitamin C, aids digestion, promotes healing and aids in overall health. It’s also incredibly refreshing and the perfect tonic for recovering from illness.

I used to consider fresh flowers a bit of a luxury, but after winning a beautiful bunch of blooms just before I fell ill made me reconsider this opinion. The gorgeous colours kept me feeling upbeat and positive, and when they started to droop I promptly replaced them with a gorgeous bunch of bright yellow roses for the princely sum of $10. It just goes to show you don’t have to spend the earth to spoil yourself and my hot tip is to take a bunch and spread them amongst a few vases (big and small) throughout your home to make you feel extra special.

How do you like to treat yourself when you’re feeling under the weather? What are your failsafe remedies?
